Our History
Background
Brainshine Children International (BCI) is an organization guided by volunteers dedicated to effectively respond to the immediate survival needs of the orphans and the vulnerable children living in rural remote communities and the urban slums in Africa.
It started way back in the year 2010 by one woman Beatrice Maina felt the need of bringing a change to street children whom she used to meet along Nairobi River, while passing. She started a feeding programme and every morning she used to carry beans from her house and rice and cook for the street children.
The children who were 0-10 years got used to her and every time at 6am they used to line up along the river banks. It’s here that she founded Brainshine children and approached some few members of the church and registered the organization under the NGO’s Act on 7th July 2011 under registration no.OP 218/051/11-0217/7161.
